Here are pictures of our family layout,it is 4' X 8'.It is Scalextric track,
we started with a F1 set added track, we have used all Scalextric
buildings,pit stops,bleachers,tower,Dunlop bridge,spectators.
It is built on a 2" x 3" frame,1/4 luanne top,covered with indoor/outdoor
carpet,tracks was assembled and carpet cut around the track.
We used black silicone around the perimeter of the track,just
before it dried we ran our fingers over it,leaving a lumpy texure like asphalt.
All figures were hand painted,note ESPN camera truck and crew.We have
a total of 200 hours detailing everything, corner walls are 1" plastic lattice
with black electrical tape for lines.Note one turn has been extended by cutting
outer curve sections to widen the the turn.Background was handmade of 1/4"
masonite.Due to space requirements in our garage,the entire track is mounted on door hinges
and folds down flat to the wall when not in use.We have built a second track for flat
out racing,we use this track for vintage racing.
