Ted Turner, Safety Harbor, Florida
Hi,
My name is Ted Turner. I live in Safety Harbor, Florida. This is my home track.
SLOT CITY RACEWAY

"HOME OF THE FAMOUS "JOE'S GARAGE"
Slot City Raceway is a 68' Tomy hillclimb track. It is wired with 16g wire with three
seperate taps. It is also wired for brakes, with a variable rheostat at each driver panel.
I call it a hillclimb after the 1/24th hillclimbs, which feature a straight returning under an
upper straight. The track rests on a 3/4" high density particle board base. It is screwed
down with #4x3/4" srews in each section. All screw heads were painted black for
conceilment. The track is very-very quiet. The ramp and hill are made of 5/8" plywood.
All of the track aprons were made by pouring plaster alongside old track sections. The
plaster was then squeeged flush, the old track pieces lifted and moved to the next area, and
new track screwed down. All of the retaining walls are made from a foam core, fake brick
or stone material. This protects cars from serious damage. All of the rocks and hills were
constructed by crumpling old newspaper and covering it with plaster cloth.
The rear tunnel is illuminated by automotive dome lights.
They are illuminated by a seperate power supply, as will

all of the other buildings in the near future. All of the buildings were
bought well used at train shows. They were dismantled, refurbished,
reassembled, and repainted. There are approximately

150 hand painted figures around the raceway. No two are the same.
All of the buildings are easily

removable for easy cleaning and track maintainance. In some cases,
the entire area lifts out, buildings, trees and all. Slot City Raceway is
the home of the "WORLD FAMOUS JOE'S GARAGE"

the site of many numerous ebay auctions and Saturday night Jam sessions (bring your own
stratocaster).
No fancy lap counters or timers here. We race heads up "crash and burn"
three lap heats. If you deslot, your car stays right where it is until the heat is over. If your sitting in someone else's

lane, too bad. Don't bring your irreplacable body to race. We race everything, but mostly t-jets
and US-1 trucks.(Dump trucks really fly with Tomy turbo motors and no worm gear).
I used to have a boring track, nailed down to carpet. But then I met "T-JET AL" Jaconetta,
and his track inspired me to rip up the rug, and start anew.
Enjoy the Pics!
