Ryan Bielovitz,Moscow PA
Please accept this entry for your HO scale track contest.
My name is Ryan Bielovitz and I am a member of the Cortez Motor Speedway, in
Cortez, Pennsylvania.
The following is the copy I would like to accompany the pictures on your web
site:
Our track is an 18' x 8' tabletop track made from ¾" plywood. It has 10 hand
routered lanes with recessed welding wire, for magnetic pull, and Copper tape
for power rails.
The 18 volt power supply is obtained from two 12 volt car batteries
(connected in parallel) and one 6 volt tractor battery (connected in series
with the 12 volts).
The controllers are spaced out around the track with the controllers for
lanes 1-4 in the corners for quick wreck fixing when we don't have a full
track of racers. The rest are spaced alone the sides, we even have the lanes
numbered on the track in front of each controller to make sure the cars are
placed into the appropriate lane.
The track has many interesting items, a tunnel into the infield, with a horse
shoe pit on the side, a pit row complete with pit crews and rigs, a monster
truck show (some trucks really work on the track), a clown car pulled by a
dirt bike, a winner's circle, an ESPN tower (to watch over the action), a
Budweiser blimp, a police bust by the restrooms, many RVs, spectators, buses,
and a car show all over the infield. We race every weekend and it really
makes a great Saturday night with the crew.
Thanks,
Ryan
