Hello,
I would like to submit these pictures and a brief description for your
2001 track Contest.
The table is 5' 4''X 12' using 2X6 construction with 3/4'' ply
covered with 1/2'' sound board. The sides of the table are 1"X12" pine.
I also built a shelf under and attached to the table in order to have a
place to put the computer and power supply.
The layout utilizes Tomy track and provides a fast lap with a length
of over 48 feet per lane. Each of the four lanes has exactly the same
lane length. Four long, fast straights, a 180 degree hairpin and a
sweeping carousel section make this an excellent layout for racing. Each
lane is color coded. Power is supplied with a 15 amp Astron power
supply, six power taps are used around the course at approx. 8' spacing.
Lap counter and timing are done using photo transistors using lap timer
2000 software.
This is the first track I have built and so far I am pleased with the
results ( thanks very much to all of you out there in Cyber Space for
all your help ). I do have more work to do with landscaping and track
side buildings and will complete this as soon as my kids, family,
friends, and I get in a few more laps!
