Dan and Kyle Schmidt,St Louis,MO
Frank and Everyone at SCW,
I would like to enter a few pictures of my slot car track in your contest.
My son Kyle (16 now) and I (Dan) built the track with MDF and copper tape,
the track is 73.5 feet long on the red lane and 68 feet on the black lane.
We have a computer with TrakMate photocell timing and a good lap is
about 7 seconds (remember no magnets with copper tape). The total layout
covers 5 full 4'x8' sheets of MDF, which does take up a lot of basement space,
but is well worth it. The track took over 100 hours to construct, with each
section of track as its own table, and each table has its own hot and neutral
wire under the table. The controllers are spread out at each end and each side,
to make crash fixing easier. Each control station has a switch for brakes and direction.
We have put a lot of time recently into landscaping the track and you can see the
section that is under construction in the photos. We have a lot of work to do, and
we look forward to all the great stuff SCW has to offer, like the red and white tires,
one of your specials from a month ago; with a little paint they look GREAT.
Thanks for everything and keep 'em racing.
Dan & Kyle Schmidt. PS Put this out to all slot racers in the St. Louis, MO area,
we are new to town, where are you? schmidt7up@sbcglobal.net
