Good morning Frank,
please accept my entry for the 1/24th.track contest. I have a bunch of pictures
but they are needed to show all the stuff on the track. Thanks very much.
Venom Raceway - 1/24th.slot track
The track was scratch built and hand routed by my friend
Morgan Brown using ½" plywood and MDF. It is built in 3 sections
so it can be easily moved if need be. It has approx.33 feet running
length per lane - 3 lanes on a 12 x 8 board. It has 4 bridges for the
power supply which is a 12 volt car battery with 680 AMPS. Lane
spacing is 4-1/2" with the track surface brushed with grey epoxy finish.
Track width is 18". Braid is solid copper for stained glass window making.
The pit garages have lighting and are also air cooled at either end using
computer cpu fans. There is also a color jumbo videotron screen attached
to a mini spy cam above the track showing the racing action as it happens.
These are powered by a computer power supply mounted underneath. Track
timing is done by computer using Neil Robson's "Virtual Race System" timing
program utilizing light sensors imbedded in each lane and a light bridge across
the track. There is a helicopter landing pad for emergency air lifts at one end &
the far end of the track also has a 24 hr.clock showing time(ala LeMans). The
centre lane also has a hookup on the other side of the track which makes it
easier to access cars that have gone off on the far side. Entire track has a tyvek
skirt around it for a cleaner look. It was built for 1/24th.scale racing so when using
the 1/32nd cars there is plenty of room. The track is named "VENOM RACEWAY"
Future upgrades include a timing tower and caution lights as well as lights for
endurance racing.
