Hello,
I would like to enter the enclosed photos of my HO scale 1971 Porsche 917/10

in your current slot car contest.
A brief description follows:

In 1971 the Porsche Factory launched a renewed attack on the Can-Am series.
The new car was built around a tubular aluminum space-frame and was designed
to use the more powerful 5-litre engine. The 1971 917/10 was equipped with a
stubby body, which used tail fins but no airfoil. The use of space age
materials such as magnesium and titanium in the car's construction made it
lighter than the previous year 917 PA, but it was still heavier than the
McLarens.
The normally aspirated 917/10 enjoyed a remarkably consistent season,
finishing seven of the nine rounds, six of them in the first six places.
To model the 1971 Porsche 917/10 I started by cutting off the nose section of
an AFX 917/10 RC Cola car just in front of the driver and attaching it to the
rear section of an AFX 510K. I shaped the nose of the car with plastic card,
super glue and body putty. The rear wheel well was flattened at the top with
plastic card.
The car was primed and wet-sanded to clear up any imperfections, sprayed gloss
white then day-glow orange. The necessary details were masked and sprayed
gloss black. The lower rocker panel was finished with chrome Bare Metal Foil.
The decals are from David Romero, my own decals printed from the copy machine,
and a mixture of HO sponsors decals.
The driver figure, Joe Siffert, is detailed with his recognizable red helmet
with Swiss flag accents. The driving suit is typical for 1971 with blue and
orange stripes in the left chest and red driving gloves.
The Car was finished by coating with Krylon Crystal Clear and hand polishing
to high gloss finish. The interior and engine were sprayed Testors Dulcoat.
The mirrors are from an AFX G+ car.
The chassis is an AFX magnatraction with the five spoke rims in black

Thank you,
