Custom Peugeot 206

by Steve Carfi

I bought this scx Peugeot 206 rally # 60480 the silver car with the rack of
lights across the hood because I thought it looked cool.
After looking at the 206 for a while I though man this would make a really cool
slammed street car! Then I said to myself I must start this project. This is what I
was shooting for! I wanted it to be really low and show features of a real lowered
car with a really nice paint job. I also wanted to give it that NEON affect and a
little fire spewing from the rear exhaust pipe!!
Here is what I have done to the car first I took the car apart and took the light bar
off the hood and also removed the rest of the body interior and glass. Next I used
Polly S ELO paint and decal remover to strip the body of all its paint. Now it was
time to fill the 2 holes left in the body from the rack of lights that I took off the
hood. After several coats of filler and lots of sanding I finally got it right. Next I wet
sanded the body and coated all the body parts with plasti-kote auto primer then
wet sanded it when it dried.
After a few days of drying, I then coated the body
and it's parts with pactra RC paint metallic black, I
gave it the final 3 coats of supercal clear coat and
then painted the window glass with testors graphite
metallic.
Now about the chassis. To get the slammed look and
the neon effect, here is what I did: I lowered all the
body posts by cutting them and I also sanded all the
tire's. Next I made my own front axle system with
brass pipe with piano wire and 2 brass washers. I
then soldered them to each axle making them like Fly front axles look, but when
doing this I angled them in to give the front wheels 3 to 4 degrees of camber to
give it that real car look!
I also cut off the motor shaft to make this car rear wheel drive. Next I drilled out
the chassis to fit 16 LED's around the bottom and 1 more for the exhaust this
makes a total of 17 LED'S! Next I drilled out the tail pipe then installed the strands
of fiber optic cable that went threw the tail pipe fed to an orange LED this way
gives it a better fire affect coming out from the exhaust pipe than just showing a
solid color LED.
Next after gluing all the LED's and fiber optic cables in I then wired them all up with
resistors (this was a lot of work and was a mess!!) I also left the original light that came
with the car in for the lights up front andrear. NOW THAT'S A TOTAL OF 18 LIGHTING
UNITS!
