Greetings:
Attached is my entry for your 1/24 category contest. The is a
resin body 1971 Chevy Monte Carlo Grand National Stock Car
(now simply called NASCAR) on a plafit chassis.
This car has historic significance in that it represents General Motors
re-entrance into NASCAR racing after pulling sponsorships in 1963.
It was built by Junior Johnson and driven by "Chargin' Charlie" Glotzbach.
A pole winner at Charlotte it's first race, the car was competitive throughout
the season and won at Bristol.
At a time when NASCAR was financially very troubled, this car's success
insured GM's continued corporate support that helped the sport to grow
to its astounding popular level we see today.
